Publisher Description:
Dracula was in fact the historical Prince Vlad III of Rumania or Wallachia. Vlad III the Prince and the all powerful ruler of the large and very rich province of Wallachia which today is part of modern Rumania was the sworn enemy of the Ottoman Empire which in the 15th Century was threatening European and Christian civilisation by its invasion of the Balkans. It had already vanquished and conquered Constantinople in 1453 and was launching strong military attacks against King Boris of Serbia and King Mathias Corvinus of Hungary as well as the Princes to the south such as Vlad III. A battle was looming between approximately 30,000 troops of Vlad III which he had raised by calling on his Boyars (nobleman) to provide him with their retinues of men-at-arms, cavalry and artillery. Vlad was assembling a large and powerful force of infantry, cavalry hussars as well as artillery and bombards which was the precursor to the modern mortar. His enemy was Mehmed II the grand ruler of the Ottoman Empire. The date of this battle was to be the 17th June 1462 which was a Thursday and the attack would take place at Vlad IIIs initiative in the middle of the night of a full Moon. At this time the powers of Vlad were enhanced by his necromancy and black magic crafts of sorcery and special demonic arts.
