Publisher Description:
Corey Young is a Jamerican: born on the island of Jamaica and migrated to and living in America while juggling parts of both cultures. Faced with the challenges of a new home, a new world with different cultures and a new system, Corey Young was still confident he could be all that he wanted to be, it was instilled in him at a very young age, it was forged in the very core of his being. But the streets of Brooklyn were mean, the gangs of Brooklyn were meaner, and it wasn't long before he became a product of that environment. Corey fought, stole, and sold drugs at times, succumbing to the pressures of his environment and his peers. Years past, and so did many of the virtues instilled in Corey as a boy, the streets of Brooklyn changed and manipulated his state of mind in the name of survival. Then he met and fell madly in love with a beautiful girl who changed his outlook on life, and ever since then he was always trying to live right. Inspired by love and his mentor Robert Smith, Corey became determined to beat the odds, and rise above his condition, but there always seemed to be forces looming in the shadows waiting to sabotage is life. It was a daily struggle, and he fought very hard, but circumstances and environment, along with his gruesome past, kept pulling him back down into the mire of the gutter that he had unintentionally dug over the years, a past that followed him like a shadow and threatened his life daily. Regardless of his physical strength and mental fortitude, Corey quickly learned that if you walk in darkness you will stumble, and sometimes fall; and the forces of darkness always have malign intentions. His exemplary skills in martial arts gave him confidence, but he quickly learned that was not good enough to withstand or defeat his true enemies. They were not natural, and a reprogramming of his mind had to take place, and the fight would have to be on a different battlefield. Corey struggled to maintain his nobility; as do all men, he has a weakness and a past, and so his relationship with the love of his life suffered; and often times the pressures seemed unbearable. "Too Young To Die" is a phrase Corey used to remind and inspire him to survive from day to day. He is well aware of the high mortality rate of the young men in his community, and that there are extreme challenges because of gang activities and illegal drugs. But as he battled and coped with that reality he painfully learned that there is a much more formidable foe in the background, behind the scenes, and with much higher stakes than his life; one that requires our soul. Through his experiences, thirst for knowledge, and quest for vengeance, Corey became enlightened, and now he's ready to confront the devil himself. Take the ride with Corey as he dabbled with lust, love, good, and evil; and then ran back to Jamaica for solace before returning to America to face the ultimate evil.
