Publisher Description: In this book, Mervous learns to personify his OCD as Bruno the bully. This personification objectifies his problem and he fights his enemy as an external presence. Mervous strives for emotional survival as he masters his emotion. In this book Mervous experiences issues of symmetry, and doubting. He is compelled to complete rituals of order with his hands, and must have his toys and clothes rigidly secures. Families of OCD children can become hopelessly engaged in a web of enabling the family member who is seeking relief from his compulsion. In this story Mervous is also tormented by doubting whether he had adequately written his t's. This book reveals something of the rigid thinking and dread one often experiences with OCD. As the author, it is my hope that the Mervous story will help children gain mastery in their struggle with OCD |
