He worked as Assistant Director of Public Relations in the Smallwood Administration, as a journalist and newspaper columnist with Daily News, a reporter with VOCM and CJON and editor of the Newfoundland Herald. He is the author of thirty-six books including, Jack Fitzgerald's Treasury of Newfoundland Stories Volume I: True Crime and Adventure and Peculiar Facts and Tales of Newfoundland.
