Publisher Description: This short book grew out of the chapter, The Heart of Mom in Counseling. Beginning there, I recalled my experience with mothers and their sons over the years of my counseling career. Also, I was empowered to reenter my childhood and adolescent years with my mother. Being 65 at the time, I had already been counseling 20 years. But at this time, I realized the forming of my legacy, namely, the story originally given to me by my mother. Through each of these chapters, I recall her wisdom and insights transpiring through the lives of my mothers' relating to their children in the counseling relationship. Hence, I was empowered to effectively call youth clients to receive the wisdom of their mothers. The heart of mom is shown to be in "learning," "knowing," "the father," "community," "love," "faith," "of the child," "the senior," "virtue," "wisdom," "counseling," and "as the child." My prayer is that these pages will inspire all who read its pages including mothers, counselors, and educators. |
