Publisher Description:
This is a story about a young boy who was orphaned at a young age and how he grew up to become a Chickasaw Warrior. The story begins with the boy accidentally discovering the existence of an albino black bear on the same day that his parents were murdered. Then it follows the stages of his life as he grows from childhood to manhood. The story gives glimpses of everyday life in a Chickasaw village during the years of 1558 to 1583. It tells of how the young boy lived a life that was groomed by his grandparents and the warriors that rescued him.The story deals with relationships between mothers and sons, fathers and sons, authority figures and their influences, and the love between a man and a woman. The tale uses the backdrop of relationships between Chickasaw Tribes and other tribes that would be friend and foe alike, but it hinges primarily on a young boy and a young girl whose friendship develops from familiarity into love.
