Publisher Description: Most Christians know that the Bible mentions "covenants." But not surprisingly, many do not really appreciate their significance. Some think that covenants are esoteric Old Testament relics that have little to do with New Testament believers. Others think that "covenant theology" is merely a theoretical idea that helps to explain some passages of Scripture such as Roman 5:12-21, but has otherwise, little if any, implications for the day to day life of the believer. On the other hand, there are those who think that everything in the Christian life must be viewed covenantally, and yet draw a blank when asked what exactly that means, and why. While it was originally written to serve a different purpose, it is hoped that this little primer will help to correct these misconceptions and ignorance concerning the place of "covenants" and "Covenant Theology" in the Bible and in the life of believers and Christian churches. It seeks to demonstrate clearly and often diagrammatically, that Covenant Theology is not an invention of armchair theologians, but is really an important framework revealed in Scripture and appointed by the LORD for His people to relate to Him, to walk before His face, and to glorify and enjoy Him. |
