There once was a king who hated bath time so much that he never washed. He was a very smelly king The king finally consents to bathe in the river but no matter how clean he is, his feet stay dirty. The people sweep away all the dirt in the land - but the air is choked with dust. The dust gets washed away but now the land is flooded with water. An enormous tapestry is sewn to cover the whole kingdom but now nothing will grow on the land... What is to be done? At last one old man steps forward with leather and a pair of scissors ... and to the king's amazement he creates - the first ever pair of shoes

Contributor Bio(s): Clayton, Sally Pomme: - SALLY POMME CLAYTON is a writer and acclaimed storyteller. She co-founded The Company of Storytellers, spearheading the revival of storytelling in the UK. She has created work for The London Philharmonic Orchestra; Unicorn Theatre; Southbank Centre and Welsh National Opera. In 2010 she was commissioned by The British Museum to write and perform six stories for their exhibition 'A History of the World in 100 Objects'. She has published several children's books, her latest being Greek Myths, Stories of Sun Stone and Sea. Other acclaimed titles include: Tales Told in Tents; Amazons!; Persephone and Rama and Sita: Path of Flames.

Sanderson, Rhiannon: - RHIANNON SANDERSON was brought up in Anglesey, Wales. She has recently graduated from Hereford College of Arts and her graduation project included illustrations for the Welsh epic the Mabinogion. Rhiannon's illustrations are created with a range of digital media. The King with Dirty Feet is her first published book.
