Publisher Description:

Welcome to this fantastic Kakuro book, featuring 100 brand-new jumbo kakuro. Each kakuro puzzle is played on a giant 20x20 grid, and will require a mixture of maths and logic to solve. If you are new to kakuro solving, here are the rules: place numbers into each run of white squares so that the numbers contained in the squares sum to the value given at the start or end of that run of squares. In this way, the puzzles are a little like number crosswords. You must use numbers from 1-9 only, and are not allowed to repeat a number within a run of squares. Thus, if required to make 4 from two squares, the squares must contain 3 and 1 in some order, as 2 and 2 would not be allowed as that repeats a number.

If you are a fan of sudoku or other Japanese logic puzzles, and now looking for a similarly absorbing challenge, then why not try these jumbo kakuro puzzles? Whilst you will need to use your logical thinking skills, as with sudoku, you will additionally need to use your mathematical prowess to tackle kakuro puzzles. At the start of the book we list all the possible ways of reaching each of the totals in the 100 puzzles throughout the book to give you a helping hand. It is worth familiarising yourself with these as you work through the puzzles. Learning to spot which sums have relatively few options is a great way to get a foothold into many of the puzzles.

Kakuro puzzles can be tricky to solve, particularly these jumbo puzzles. However, all puzzles have a single solution that can be reached through the use of logic, maths and cross-referencing alone, you will never need to take a guess to solve these puzzles. You will often require patience, however, and to carefully think through the options for a run of squares and then cross-reference these against crossing runs in order to make progress.

All solutions are included at the back of the book so if you get stuck, or just want to check your answer is correct, please do look there. We hope you enjoy this fantastic collection of jumbo kakuro puzzles.
