Publisher Description:

This is the student practical manual to accompany the second book of ADVENTURES in EARTH and ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE. It is designed for the second-year program in this topic and is matched to the chapters of Book 2 i.e. Chapters 15 to 28. There are fifty tested practical experiments requiring relatively simple laboratory equipment and Internet connectivity. Each practical activity procedure is clearly set out and many are illustrated with photographs or diagrams. Results and conclusions are directed and there is often reference to further student research. There are also several video links designed to show aspects of the activity or relating to it. All of the mandatory experiments proscribed in the Queensland Syllabus have been included.

Contributor Bio(s): Scott, Dr Peter T.: - "Dr. Peter Scott is an award-winning of Earth Science of over forty years' experience in both secondary and tertiary education. He holds a bachelor's degree, two master's degrees and a doctorate, including many years on his own research in locating and correlating coal measures. His experience has been as a classroom teacher and Head of Department but he has also worked at the administrative level as Head of Syllabus and as member of State review panels and has served on advisory bodies for several governments and industry bodies. He has also lectured at university in Science teaching. Apart from his exploration during his own field researches, he has also travelled extensively and has visited many places of interest including Antarctica, the Andes, the Amazon, North Africa, the volcanic islands of the Pacific and Asia, Alaska, Hawaii and the American northwest, northern Europe and remote Australia. His studies and interests have also taken him underground into many limestone and lava caves, coal mines and deep metalliferous mines. The Earth is truly a place of adventure - this book encourages the reader to begin its exploration both at home and abroad."
