Publisher Description:

THE PRICE OF JUSTICE IN AMERICA features a series of blogs I have written about problems in the criminal justice system and how they might be fixed. I have been writing these blogs for my website (www.americanjusticethebook.com) as a follow-up to my book American Justice?

The chapters are divided into the following sections:

- the rising racial tensions, especially between the police and the black community

- problems in the prison and correctional system

- differences in the homicide rate in different communities and groups

- the relationship between homicide rate and drugs

- the role of the media in sensationalizing crime and contributing to problems in the criminal justice system

Contributor Bio(s): Brakke, Paul: - Paul Brakke, is a scientist based in the Little Rock, Arkansas area. He became interested in studying the criminal justice system when his life was turned upside down after his wife was falsely accused of aggravated assault for trying to run some kids over with her car, since the kids and some neighbors wanted her out of the neighborhood. Eventually, they had to move, as part of a plea agreement, since otherwise, Brakke's wife faced a possible 16 year jail sentence if the case went to trial and she lost. He has previously told his wife's story in American Justice?, along with a critique of the criminal justice system.
