Publisher Description:

Who is the Gray Heron? To Leroy Overstreet, he is an old friend. Throughout his life, Leroy has always craved a life of adventure. He has a constant need for movement, and during periods of stagnation, he struggles against the depression that inevitably seeps in. As he approaches retirement, Leroy resolves himself to settling down to a quieter way of life while helping his niece raise her two children, Lela and Rye. What he is not prepared for, however, is how the adventures in their young lives will affect his own. The waters of life move quickly, children become adults, and memories linger to cause aches for what once was. All the while, the Gray Heron is never far away, always returning to the creek behind Leroy's house. The bird is a constant and comforting presence for him as he struggles through cycles of despair and hope, and it acts as a reminder that there's a spirit guide in all of us.

Contributor Bio(s): Wilde, John: - John Wilde born in 1950 B.C. (Before Computers), and life was anything but typical. As a boy, his world was filled with constant change. His home served as a way-station for children waiting for adoption, and twenty-seven foster kids filtered in and out of his life as he grew up. With all their different struggles and hardships, those kids molded him into who he became and helped him understand why love is the greatest healer. Small but athletic, Wilde excelled in sports. College was a joy ride, but it still managed to endear him to reading. His studies prepared him for forty-four years in sales, and it was in those years that he developed a passion for writing.Tabor, Sierra: - Sierra Tabor has been an editor at Bluewater Publications since spring of 2017, but she has been fascinated by the art of storytelling for much longer. She has been an avid reader and book lover since childhood and first began volunteering her services as a beta reader and editor in high school. She has a degree in Psychology and experience teaching English as a foreign language. She first began college with plans to major in English; however, in her first psychology class, she fell in love with the story of human nature and the concepts used to analyze it. When it comes to improving stories, Sierra likes to look at both the big picture and the details to assist writers in creating the vision they wish to express to their readers. At Bluewater Publications, Sierra focuses on developmental editing, which involves fine-tuning story structure, character development, and the context that helps all the elements blend together. Favorite Book: Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontėBeck, Maria Yasaka: - Maria is one of the designers at Bluewater Publications, who focuses on the interior of books. She graduated with a degree in art and digital media. She has had a love for both art and books from a young age, and she combines them in her work at Bluewater. Her goal is to create a pleasant reading experience that immerses the reader in the story. She does this through careful design choices and meticulous attention to detail, all while keeping it subtle, so the elements on the page do not overpower the story but enhance it.
