| Publisher Description: Years of Challenge and Change: An Autobiography is a very thought-provoking and inspirational rendition of a boy who grew up in the West Indies with a debilitation and challenging blood gene defect. Yet, the child grew with a desire to make the best of his physical limitations. He defied most of the early medical predictions of imminent death to become old enough to detail his understanding of the illness, his strengths, travels, educational accomplishments and his pastoral leadership of three succeeding congregations; the first on his island of birth, the second in London, England with a multicultural fellowship, and the third which he founded in Miami, USA. Apart from giving glory to Christ, he takes time to mention family members and friends whom God placed in his path. He attributes his survival to the wisdom, kindness, and influence of others that came to his assistance. He is of the view that God discards no one, and no one is outside of God's power to be used of Him in bringing about change in others. My challenge through life was a debilitating illness. Through the years, I made several changes in coping with the problem. Change is inevitable in life and only as we are challenged that we change for the better. My hope is that this volume will be of some assistance for the reader to identify the challenge in your life and change focus or direction, so as to allow the Holy Spirit of Christ to direct your way. Contributor Bio(s): Moitt, Answorth Hervan: - Answorth Hervan Mackenzie Moitt's character is strong in determination; thinks strategically; is self-motivated, with superb integrity. He was birthed on January 18th 1952, on the small but exquisitely beautiful island of Antigua in the West Indies. He is the seventh of ten children born to his mother and the eleventh of his father's sixteen. Both worked to support growing families. He has had an international education: earned a diploma in Theology at West Indies Theological College, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad; earned a Master of Divinity at School of Theology, Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana; Associate of Arts in Education at Miami-Dade College, Miami, Florida; Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Science in Reading Education respectively from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida. Answorth was ordained in 1990 and served as pastor of Zion Church of God, Antigua, from 1987-1990. He and his family answered the call to serve the Tottenham Community Church of God in London, England, 1995- 2001. On completion of ministry there, the family returned to Miami, Florida, 2002, where he planted and pastored the now closed Homestead Community Church of God from 2005-2016. Answorth is a lover of good humor and comedy. In music, he cherishes classical oratorios such as the Handel Messiah, Elijah and Joseph; old and new gospel songs, as well as the West Indian expressions of the steel band, Reggae and Calypso. For Reggae and Calypso songs, his preferences are those with lyrics of social commentary that helps to awaken and strengthen consciousness of equity and justice within the community. One might even go to the length of saying that the singers of such lyrics are our modern-day prophets. In film, he likes epics/historical drama, action, adventure, and science fiction. He does not see himself as perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but rather being perfected each day by Christ's empowerment, love and grace. |
