Publisher Description:

When an unlikely and beautiful love blossoms between a lion and a butterfly, each holds it a secret from the other. A beautiful story about diverse friendships, trust...and fairies! Leonard the Lion and Barbara the Butterfly have many differences, of course. But that doesn't stop them from feeling love and happiness toward each other. If only each would let the other know-but they have sworn their friends, the Bobos Babes, to secrecy. Author Karen Bobos brings a sweet tale of diverse friendships and hidden love with her newest picture book, The Lion's Secret, the third book in the precious Bobos Babes Adventures series.

In the land of Harmony, the Bobos Babes sisters-Angel Scarlett, Princess Daphne, and Fairy Cora-live in a castle behind an enchanted waterfall. On this day, they decide to visit Barbara the Butterfly and her lovely fields of flowers. Overlooking the beauty from atop a hill, Leonard the Lion enjoys the view, or so Fairy Cora thinks.

"Flowers?" said Leonard the Lion.

"Do I look like a flower-loving kind of guy?

My secret," he blurted out,

"Is that I'm in love with Barbara the Butterfly."

Leonard the Lion makes Fairy Cora swear she will not give up his secret, even though the fairy protests that he should share his sentiment with the sweet butterfly. In the meantime, her sisters Scarlett and Daphne are among the flowers listening to Barbara the Butterfly tell them how kind and generous she finds her leonine friend, Leonard, who keeps predators from her lovely fields and who has such a warm smile and cute face. But she, too, pleads with her friends to keep her feelings a secret.

"I know he is so big, and you are so small,"

Began Scarlett, "and you love to fly, and he loves to crawl.

But despite all the differences that stand in your way,

You might share a love that makes those differences fade."

With vibrant and playful illustrations and a lilting rhyming text, The Lion's Secret is a lively read-aloud that shares the beauty of unlikely love and the trust of true friendships. Author Karen M. Bobos was inspired to write this whimsical series by her own three daughters and their rollicking adventures.
