Publisher Description:
Holy Spirit is the best gift One day, Jesus taught his disciples to pray. "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children"(Luke 11:11-13). Then the Lord mentioned the best gift to his disciples.how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him (Luke 13:13b)The purpose of Jesus' teaching to His disciples seems to teach that the Holy Spirit is the best gift. Since the best gift that is the Comforter Jesus went up to heaven, the disciples needed another Comforter. Another Comforter is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the best gift like Jesus. Only Jesus, the best gift, could send us the Holy Spirit, which is the best gift. Peter suggested a way to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when preaching to thousands of Jews on the day of Pentecost.Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)Those who have not carefully read the above verse tend to think that they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through frequent prayers, fasting, or a lot of amount of offerings and frequent worships. When I was still spiritually young, I also thought I would receive the Holy Spirit by a lot of fasting and prayer. The difference between the recipient of the gift and the recipient of the prize is remarkable. A person who receives a prize must be good at something, and his achievement must be recognized. On the other hand, a person who receives a gift receives it according to the decision of the one who gives, even if he has no achievement or merit. So receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit is more glorious and gracious than receiving any prize of the world, even if it is a Nobel Prize. If we have to do the righteous act of the law to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, none of us can meet that condition. Rather, God knew that we could not meet the heavy demands of the law, so He sent us the Holy Spirit so that we could live only through Jesus' redemptive grace.
