Publisher Description: This book has a sample of artist Ruth Amster's paintings of landscapes, florals, and abstractions. Born and raised in New York, she and her husband, Dolph, came to the desert landscape of Ridgecrest, CA. She was inspired by the clear air and the shapes of the landscape. She traveled for two years to nearby Owens Lake, to capture the essence of the feelings the lake gave to her. She had a show at the Ridgecrest Maturango Museum in 2003. Also it compares her paintings with her husband Dolph's photographs of the same subject. An interview with Ruth tells about her philosophy of painting. |
