Publisher Description:
Marci Peters takes a job in California and moves from the east coast. New employer folds and she gets a job at the local Police Department. There she sees the handsome Det. Chance Reese, who coaches their softball team. A bold invite gets Chance some sampling of this quiet woman's home cooking. A friendship develops and Marci hopes it will blossom into something more. Chance Reese has been a widower for over 10 years. He's never been good at courting and is surprised by the emotions that Marci awakens in him. When things get over heated in his kitchen, major mistakes in judgement are made by both parties involved. Marci doesn't want to live without the man she has been in love with for a long time. Circumstances force Chance to step up and take control in Marci's life. After working things out, Chance reveals that his dream is a ranch in Montana. When a Sheriffs position opens up in Buffalo Kill, Montana, Chance needs to pass his Lt. exam to apply for the job. With Marci's help, he gets the job and they make the move to Montana. The ranch is more of a fixer upper than Chance figured. Together, they overcome every obstacle to build their new life in Montana. The town mayor is actually in the Federal witness protection plan. Marci's illness proves to be a new born son, Jeffrey for Chance. Chance's older brother drops in and out of their lives unexpectedly. Frank Dailey has a wife and two grandchildren. They move to town after Frank retires and inherits the Mayor's job. Marci helps Karen at her consignment shop and they become friends. Frank was a state trooper, so he's able to help Chance whenever winter strands him at home. The 4th of July tragedy touches almost every person in town but pulls them closer together. Marci gives Chance a second son and Jeffrey a younger brother, John Reese. Ron and Helen return after being relocated by the Feds. The contract on Ron has been cancelled with the death of the mafia king. Chance gives them a place to stay at his ranch. Ron decides he wants to raise chickens. Chance begins planning on getting a few more animals for his ranch. Marci plans to stay in Montana and be happy with Chance for the rest of their lives.
