Mediums that work well with grayscale books are Prismacolor pencils, gel pen, pastels, other colored pencils with a waxy base. For the lighter areas, markers work well. I love to mix my mediums to get the effects I want. Please put a piece of heavy paper between the pages if you are using markers (to prevent bleed through).
