Publisher Description:
This is a play emphasizing the brilliant mind of the blind and deaf Helen Keller. She faced up to her handicaps and lived her life as a joy and inspiration to the world by what she could accomplish. This material is probably best presented as a staged reading because some of the parts are so long. Helen's speaking parts could be done by Anne with Helen using finger spelling in Anne's palm. Or Helen could speak them herself. Her interests included anti-militarism, socialism, labor rights, voting rights for women, equal rights for all people, and of course, the betterment of handicapped people, including economic help, education, social opportunities, and medical assistance. During her lifetime, she met most of the US presidents and many other important people. Her celebrity was worldwide and her name and influence will last forever.
