Publisher Description:
WHY THIS BOOK? Everything under the sun, has a method. Even madness has a method. Take driving for instance. If you start driving without first learning how to drive, one of two things can happen: 1. Either you hit someone or. 2. Someone will hit you. Same thing prayer. It is not enough to pray. You must be sure you are praying aright. Ask soldiers and sharp shooters: no one takes a gun and starts pulling the trigger without knowing what to do before pulling the trigger or even knowing which one is the trigger among the many parts of the gun. A hunter will tell you that there is a lot to learn before you start hunting. Such as how to locate the prey, how to take aim, and how to brace yourself for the impact of the shot. Prayer is a spiritual gun. We have not only to know the trigger but how to handle the entire weapon, how to recognize the target and take aim without alerting the prey to its danger. We need to know for sure that every bullet we dispense, finds the target. Unfortunately, experience, history and scriptures show that it is not always the case when we prey, that our bullets hit the mark. The Bible in James 4:3 admonishes us that we pray but receive not simply because we pray amiss American Standard Version "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures" The important thing to note above is that it is possible to pray amiss, no matter the reason. This also implies that we have to learn the proper way to pray so as not to pray amiss. It is also re-assuring to note that the apostles humbled themselves and asked to be taught how to pray: Luke 11:1-13 New International Version (NIV) Jesus' Teaching on Prayer 11 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." 2 He said to them, "When you pray, say: "'Father, a] hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. b] 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. c] And lead us not into temptation. d]'" This book not only teaches us how to pray for our country, it tells us why and gives us forty prayer points amongst other things.
