Publisher Description:
In our everyday lives we talk about God-given talents, gifts, skills and we attribute them rightfully to their source which is God. Somehow though; we start attempting to pack the Holy Spirit into some little box where we can understand Him better. Venturing through these passages, some of us, perhaps for maybe the thousandth time...Maybe we are the worst offenders of all in doing this as we continue to struggle to understand what Paul is trying to tell us here. Paul lists nine spiritual gifts but is that -all- of them? He did say Diversities and not " There are nine special gifts"... I cannot think of a single person I have ever met, and got to know, who did not possess at least one gift, some talent, or some profound ability. Something they can do that is special to them and noteworthy enough that you have to take notice of it. Can you? And if that one talent or ability could be used to glorify God -and I would say all of them could if one were to ponder on it- If it can be used to glorify God in some way even once...Then maybe that was its whole purpose to begin with; and if so...then isn't that proof of it's origin from Him? And if these things are true then isn't that special gift truly a spiritual Gift?
