| Publisher Description: Although only 147 tablets have been discovered at Beydar, and although almost all the tablets contain administrative texts, they are nevertheless of great importance for our understanding of the culture and the society of Northern Jazirah in the second half of the third millenium B.C. Until the discovery of tablets at Beydar, Northern Syria had not yielded any tablets dating to the Early Dynastic period.
