Such conflict and ambiguity is visibly clear in cases of desist notices that structure the common technological field and is similar to cases of scholarship and education for which copyright law does not always provide adequate standards. These problems will only intensify in those cases that concern control of technological access. On the other hand, copyright law makes possible free and non-obligatory access to information (e.g. Open Source). The collected studies assembled in this volume clarify the mutual stimulation from copyright law and its environment. These studies investigate the cases of conflict from the political, economic, and theoretical legal perspectives and attempt to answer the question of what an environmentally sensible copyright law might look like.
