Publisher Description:
Studia Graeco-Parthica is a volume of collected studies written by Edward Dabrowa over years concerning different aspects of mutual relations of the Parthian Empire, founded by dynasty of Arsacids, with the Greek population living on areas east of Euphrates, starting from the times of Seleucids. All the texts can be divided into three groups. One group consists of studies presenting facts and events which seriously affected relations between the Parthians and the Seleucids in 2nd to 1st centuries BC. The next group of studies is focused on questions of political and cultural relations between the Parthians and the Greek inhabitants of Central Asia, Media and Mesopotamia after conquest of these regions by the Arsacids in 2nd century BC. The third group of studies presents observations concerning the impact of the Hellenistic culture on the Parthian political institutions, cultural traditions and religious practices. The book is addressed to readers and scholars interested in history of Iran and Mesopotamia in Antiquity, history of Hellenistic period, history of ancient civilizations and religions.
