Publisher Description:
This book shows that wealthy families and entrepreneurs around the world have a law-abiding interest in keeping private as much as possible about themselves. Safety is their number one concern, and in particular the safety of their family including their minor children, whom they reasonably fear will be kidnapped and ransomed. For these legitimate reasons they wish to maintain freedom of movement not only with regard to their financial affairs but also to their whereabouts, be it in person or on the internet. In a world where government officials lose or criminals disseminate thousands of sensitive data records by chance, or accident, or error, default or design; and in a world where more and more data gets collected, pooled, analysed and made available, the wealthy family's and entrepreneurs' wish for privacy is well- founded. It will further be argued in this book that Switzerland has a role to play with regard to protecting the global wealthy family's and entrepreneur's interests in privacy. Given Switzerland's eminent financial industry, this role will not be a minor one, as it must go beyond much of what is commonly on offer today.
