Publisher Description:
Global immunization coverage has been increasing yearly. Currently, over 2.5 million of deaths due to vaccine preventable diseases such diphtheria, tetanus, whooping chough (pertussis) and measles are averted by immunization. WHO stated that immunization is the most cost effective health intervention to reduce infant and child deaths. It costs US $ 5 to US $10 per child per year. Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) are a global burden which needs to be reduced. It was estimated that 11 million Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) averted and 0.3 million deaths can be averted by measles vaccine in Southeast Asia region. Indonesia has targeted to achieve 80% fully immunised Children. However, the target has not been achieved. The Poverty Reduction Strategy Program (PRSP) approach was applied in order to provide scientific comprehensive analysis. Therefore, this book provides detailed information on how to improve EPI coverage in a limited setting including recommendation for MOH, Province and district level. This book should be useful for public health professionals either for government or NGOs particularly in developing countries.
