Publisher Description: Urbanization is the major causes of flooding in urban areas. The rainfall intensity and characteristics of catchment area are the major factors for designing urban drainage structures. These structures should allow on-site infiltrations or should safely remove floods to final receiving systems (rivers, water ways, ...). This study assessed the major drainage problems in Addis Ababa and then prsented appropriate solutions. Furthermore, it has introduced sustainable urban storm water drainage management technologies. The causes of river pollution in the city was also ivestigated and some directives have presented as a sutainable solution. The use of modern Technologies/ soft-wares such as ArcGIS in Urban storm water drainage planning, Design and management has introduced. In the end the various types of sustainable urban storm water drainage techniques have presented with selected and appropriate/best practices.
