Publisher Description:
The video quality metrics are required in order to estimate picture quality for mobile or portable devices. The motivation of our research on mobile video quality is because of the recently emerging standard MPEG-4 Part 10 H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Coding), which is not only used for the mobile industry but also for portable multimedia devices. The estimation of video quality degradation in multimedia systems will help to maintain the quality of video. These quality metrics not only help improve the video quality but also to reduce the bandwidth where we have bandwidth constraint. There are two type of testing techniques, namely subjective and objective. In the objective scheme a practical approach has been taken into consideration and the results are computed via Matlab(R). We have worked on both techniques and we have made calculations of MSE, SNR, and PSNR and been able to correlate objective scores to subjective scores.
