Publisher Description: Zataria multiflora with common name "Avishan-E-Shirazi", "Satar" or "Za'atar" is an important flowering plant in Iranian Traditional medicine. It is thyme like plant and grows wild from southern to central parts of Iran. In Iranian Traditional Medicine, Z. multiflora is used as diuretic, anti-parasite, anti-flatulence and appetizer. The chewing of plant is effective in reducing teeth pain, joint pain and acts as anti-diarrhea. Z. multiflora is traditionally known as main antispasmodic agent in treatment of cough and Z. multiflora infusion with sugar or honey is used for whooping cough, sore throat and catarrh. Z. multiflora tea is used in treatment of dyspepsia, control of fever and as carminative for colic. Z. multiflora oil has been used as rubifacient and as counterirritant agent for treatment of neuralgic pains. It is believed that Z. multiflora is emmenagogue, tonic and its tea is benefit for hysteria, dysmenorrhea, convalescence, diarrhea, enuresis in infantile and is applicable as gargle for tonsillitis and in topical use for wound healing. Z. multiflora acts as stimulant and for premature labor pain. |
