Publisher Description: The Book is emphasizing the systematic study of Geology, Geomorphology and Structure of the Nagari ourliers. The Nagari Qurartzite equated with the Bairenkonda Quartzite is the basal unit of the Nallamalai group of the Cuddapah Super Group. Nagari Qurartzite occurs to the south of the Cuddapah basin, in the form of number of Outliers. Based on the field and laboratory studies Outliers have the triple division of lithological sequence, viz., Conglomerate, Grit and Quartz arenite. In the main basin and also in the outliers the unconformity between basement granitoids and the sediments is very well prounounced by a well developed conglomerate. Quartz is the main detrital mineral. Etching and embayment of detrital grains, formation of intraclast stylolites and development of authigenic quartz that is in optical continuity with the detrital grains are the evidences of diagenesis. Outliers exhibit three stages of diagenesis. Geomorphologically the entire terrain of the Outliers represents mature topography or 2nd order topography. The present geomorphological set up is mainly due to the influence of lithology and structure. |
