Publisher Description:
Climate change has remain a threat to crop production among farmers in the zone. Despite the effort of international agencies like IPCC and UNFCCC to fight against climate change through conventional mitigation and adaptation measures, farmers have not benefited from it because of cost, technical know-how required and alienation associated to it. Although, farmers are endowed with indigenous agricultural knowledge and practices(IAKPs)which are cost effective, and Eco-friendly, they have not been identified, documented and utilized by farmers in their crop production as climate change mitigation and adaptation measures that could be use in crop production stages like " pre-planting, planting, post-planting operations, and IAKPs farmers could use as climate change copping strategies" in their crop production. Therefore identifying, documenting and utilizing IAKPs in crop production activities now that conventional mitigation and adaptation measures are not within the reach of the poor farmers who are vulnerable to effects of climate change will be of great help to them and should be especially useful to research institutions, researchers, students, teachers and agencies like IPCC and UNFCCC.
