Publisher Description:
Adolf Wilhelm, one of the most eminent scholars of Greek epigraphs of his generation, passed away nearly 60 years ago. In addition to several monographs, his enormous creative output consisted above all in hundreds of shorter articles, distinguished through their exceptional precision. Adolf Wilhelm's studies, readings, and commentaries are still of relevance today, both for epigraphical studies as well as for Classical Studies in general. It is clear that an overview of them all is almost impossible, especially since many of publications where they appeared are now available only with difficulty. This reprint of the Kleine Schriften has thus long been a special desideratum. The former Zentralantiquariat der DDR in Leipzig began work on such a reprint between 1974 and 1984, publishing a total of five volumes, but the work was discontinued during the political changes of the next years without there being a legal successor. The Commission of Asia Minor of the Austrian Academy of Sciences then reprinted the remaining 174 articles of Part II/3-5, which with approximately 1,900 pages fill three volumes. This was followed by Part III, an edition of Wilhelm's posthumous works. After the international scholarly community's positive reception of these four volumes, the series has now been completed with the publication of this volume, Part IV, a comprehensive index of all the Leipzig and Vienna reprints of Wilhelm's works (including his "Beitrage zur griechischen Inschriftenkunde" written in 1909).
