These articles underline the pervasive presence of anthropological reflection in Schellings philosophy, a subject which has received little attention up to now. And yet since the Treatise on the Essence of Human Freedom at the latest it can be said that there was an anthropological turn in Schellings thinking. Man is no longer seen solely from the perspective of the absolute but conversely the absolute is increasingly seen from the perspective of man. Thus the advancement of anthropology to a fundamental philosophy, which emerged quite openly in post-idealist philosophy, could already be seen in Schellings writings. |
