| Publisher Description: Although in his lectures on rational theology held in 1783/84 Kant was still convinced that a philosophical theodicy (which reflects on plausible reasons for evil in a world created by God) was possible, his later theodicy essay for example selects a philosophical defense of a moral theism. From 1791 on, Kant believed that only verification of a reasonable compatibility of the existence of a wise creator of the world with the existence of evil was possible. Ist Kant noch in seinen Vorlesungen uber Rationaltheologie von 1783/84 davon uberzeugt, dass eine philosophische Theodizee - die auf plausible Grunde fur das Ubel in einer Welt, die von Gott geschaffen ist, reflektiert - moglich ist, so optiert beispielsweise der spatere Theodizee-Aufsatz nur noch fur eine philosophische Verteidigung eines moralischen Theismus. Kant halt ab 1791 allein den Nachweis einer vernunftgemassen Vereinbarkeit der Existenz eines weisen Welturhebers und der Existenz des Ubels fur moglich. |
