Publisher Description:
This volume is addressed to scientists and practitioners who want to study Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). It includes ten contributions written by authors of different disciplines to enrich the relative scarce scientific German-speaking literature. The first four papers are concerned with the purposes and definitions of PPPs, a historical outline of PPPs in Germany, some judicial aspects, and attitudes of public decision-makers towards PPPs plus their experience with PPPs. Two articles deal with the value for money or the economic appraisal of PPPs. The subjects of the remaining papers are the potential of PPPs to hide government debt, the disparate taxation of PPPs and conventional realized public projects, the need for and the purpose of PPP competence centres in Germany, and the corporate governance of mixed enterprises or joint ventures.
