Publisher Description: 79 portraits of 17-year-old teenagers on the tangled alleys and hilly streets of Sasebo. Sasebo has developed rapidly with the modernization of Japan in the late 1900s. This is the 4th title of Sasebo-born photographer Osamu Matsuo published through the "Sasebo Project" launched in 2007. The aim of this project is to acknowledge the charm of the town from a journalistic perspective, rather than from a photographic one. The theme of this 4th release is "17-year-old Sasebo teenagers in 2017." There are 79 portraits of 17-year-old teenagers in this title, lingering on the streets of the town where the tangled alleys of a hilly city are unique and compelling. They are today's youngsters, of course, but the photographer has been able to capture a timeless look with the effects of nostalgic black-and-white. |
