The book was published to commemorate the coronation of Emperor Alexander III and his wife Maria Feodorovna. The description of this event is preceded by a historical sketch of the coronation of Russian rulers, who escorted 100 drawings. Before Alexander III of weddings in the kingdom was eighteen and, with one exception, this solemn rite occurred in the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. Only the first coronation of Grand Duke Vladimir Monomakh took place in Kiev, St. Sophia Cathedral.
