Publisher Description:
The research looks at the Conservation efforts that have been put in place to reduce the mortality rate. The most effective has been the construction of colobridges along the highway which has assisted in the safe crossing of the Sykes. There is still the need to install more bridges and this has been limited due to low funding. The bridges are built and installed by Colobus Conservation. The author included recommendations that would go a long way in reducing the mortality rate and increase the Sykes population. These recommendations would require the assisted effort from other Government agencies such as the Kenya Power and Lighting Company to better insulate the electrical cables, Kenya Rural Roads Authority, who can add more speed bumps in order to slow down fast-moving motor vehicles, Ministry of Energy to provide Eco-friendly and affordable sources of Energy other than the use of Charcoal and the Kenya Wildlife Service in collaboration with NEMA to increase civil education on the importance of protecting the environment by emphasizing its vital role in the existence to the local communities and the wild animals that depend on the same (in this case the Cercopithecus mitis).
