| Publisher Description: English summary: In terms of its originality and its importance for medieval philosophy and theology, Durandus of St. Pourcain's commentary occupies a prominent place amongst 14th century commentaries on the Book of Sentences. On the one hand, it is in a unique document, particularly with respect to the debates within the Dominican Order concerning the importance of Thomas Aquinas and the significance of his teaching for the order. Secondly, Durandus's commentary on the Sentences reflects the increasing importance that the genre was to regain during the late 13th and early 14th centuries. From something that was seen being as a mere obligation at the beginning of an academic career, as in the case with Thomas Aquinas, the Commentary on the Sentences now became an important written form for a Master of Theology and one that would accompany him throughout his academic career. This part of the Commentary on the Book of Sentences is published here in its first versions (A) and (B) in the form of a critical edition for the first time. German description: Der Sentenzenkommentar des Durandus von St. Pourcain nimmt, was seine Originalitat und seine Bedeutung fur die philosophische und theologische Mediavistik angeht, eine herausragende Stellung unter den Sentenzenkommentaren des 14. Jahrhunderts ein. Zum einen ist er ein einzigartiges Dokument fur die Debatten vor allem innerhalb des Dominikanerordens um die Bedeutung des Thomas von Aquin und die Verbindlichkeit seiner Lehrmeinungen fur den Orden. Buch II, Distinktionen 39-44 In den abschlieaenden sechs Distinktionen des zweiten Buches geht es um die Frage der moralischen Unterscheidung von Gut und Bose, um das Verhaltnis von Wille, Vernunft und Gewissen, um Schuld und Sunde, um Todsunden und die kapitalen Laster. Die abschlieaende Distinktion behandelt das problem der potestas dominandi der Pralaten. Dieser Teil des Sentenzenkommentars wird hier in seinen ersten Fassungen (A) und (B) erstmals kritisch herausgegeben. |
