Publisher Description: Vector-borne diseases are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. Well-planned and coordinated vector control interventions contribute significantly to reduction of the incidence of vector-borne diseases. Effective vector control methods exist but their implementation, as part of integrated disease management is limited. The potential to use one or several of these interventions through multisectoral collaboration to address more than one vector-borne disease exists and should be promoted. This regional strategic framework provides long-range vision and guidance for planning and undertaking sustainable and cost-effective vector control activities in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. |
