Publisher Description:
The study illuminates gendered violence as experienced by Tamil men during the Sri Lankan civil war. This is a phenomenon that cannot be ignored by the community at large as war crimes take place across nations and across time. The common themes emerged from the case studies inform the scientific and political community of experiences and the need for further studies of male sexual violence. This is one of the few studies with Sri Lankan population that revealed males as victims of gender violence. The findings illustrate how the emasculation process becomes an act of terrorism. The author presents the intersectionality theory of multiple configurations to explain the emerging findings. "The work described here is not only one of the first academic treatments of Sri Lankan war crimes victimization but it is also the most thorough, rich analysis of male victimization, especial male sexual and sexualized victimization." Dr. Christopher Mullins (September 17, 2020)
