Publisher Description: This book is a collection of reminders the author emails to members of her DBT skills class and their individual therapists each week; each email reviews the skill taught, and reminds clients of their homework. The reminders increase the likelihood that clients will practice their skills, and allow therapists to provide clarification for hard-to-understand skills or homework assignments. This volume also includes some of the supplementary handouts Dr. Webb and her co-leader use to amplify skills practice. Purchasers of this book will receive access to a website where they can download the skills reminders for use with their own skills classes, should they wish to do so. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the gold standard of treatment for anyone who is suicidal or self-harming, and research has demonstrated that it is a treatment of choice for anyone with emotional sensitivity. The protocol includes weekly, individual therapy with a DBT-trained therapist, as well as a weekly skills class. Clients learn a new skill each week, and are asked to do homework before the next class meeting; it takes about a year to learn all of the skills. |
