Publisher Description: Set in late 19th century New Orleans, Anonymity is the story of a family enduring the illness of a loved one. Eleanor, a free woman of color develops dementia. Abandoned by her husband Dominic, she is left in the care of her two children, Clara and Julian. Narrated from four contradicting perspectives, each family member recalls the events following Dominic's return months later. A far different person than the man that left, Dominic claims to have found the cure for his wife's ailment. As he tends to Eleanor, her condition only seems to worsen. Eleanor does not recognize her husband anymore than she recognizes herself. She can no longer remember a life of her own, let alone the lives of others. Though the one memory Eleanor wants to let go is a ghost that continues to haunt her so. |
