He used to lend vessels for the household functions .But when people returned the vessels he would charge them huge amount of money by pointing out small damages which happened to the vesselsPoor people could not pay him and they decided to meet Tenali Raman for solution of this problem. Tenali Raman heard them and decided to teach the greedy vessel lender a lesson. Next day he went to the vessel lender and borrowed two vessels. After two days Tenali went to Ratnadev with the two vessels he lended along with other two small vessels. He gave Ratnadev money for the vessel and gave back four vessels. " You lended two vessels from me why are you giving back me four vessels? " asked Ratnadev " The two vessels which you gave me were pregnant when I reached home they gave birth to two more vessels .These child vessels belongs to you as you are the owner of their parents " said Tenali Ratnadev thought that Tenali is a fool or retarded and he decided to grab the opportunity and take all four vessels. He kept all four vessels gladly. After few days Tenali again came to Ratnadev and borrowed thirty vessels for a marriage function. But even after weeks Tenali didn't returned the vessels. The greedy vessel lender became furious and he went to Tenali's house and shouted " Raman where are the vessels which you borrowed from me""Oh Ratnadev those vessels which you gave me were also pregnant " said RamanRatnadev interrupted " Then why didn't you returned them with their babies " " Sorry Ratnadev all of those vessels died during the delivery " replied Tenali "How could vessels die?" asked Ratnadev furiously "But you took the babies of the vessels. if a vessel can born it could die too" replied RamanRatnadev understood that his greed had backfired at him .He realized his mistake and decided to become an honest man.
