AKBAR AND BIRBAL TENALI RAMAN STORIES FOR TODDLERS One day Akbar was strolling in his garden at that time an old brahmin came to him and said "your majesty. I am a poor brahmin. I have a daughter and for her marriage I need 10kg gold as dowry. I wil do any job to earn that gold. Please be kind enough to give me a job""if you want to earn 10kg gold at once then you will have to do hardwork" said the king."i will do anything for my daughter. Your majesty" he said."then saw that lake over there" he beckoned towards the nearby lake "go and stand on that chilling water till morning and if you survive the cold then I will give you 10kg gold together" said Akbar."no one can survive in the freezing water till morning he will surely give up" thinking so Akbar walked away. But old brahmin decided to try with all his might. He went to the river and submerged in the water, he started to tremble in the cold water, as sunset it became more chilly and brahmin was almost frozen, yet he didn't give up. He saw fire ignited in front of the palace for light, seeing the fire he thought "I will have to just bear the cold for few more hours then I could warm up myself in the fire" this thought gave him hope.In the morning Akbar saw the brahmin standing in the cold water. Seeing the king brahmin bowed and came out."you stood in that cold water for the entire night?" asked Akbar incredulously."yes, your majesty. The fire in front of your palace invigorated me" he said."oh, so you got warmth from that fire and that's how you survived in such cold water." Akbar rubbed his chin thoughtfully "unfortunately that can't be considered as a victory old man, therefore you won't get any gold" he snapped.Birbal was listening to this silently. Brahmin said "but your majesty that fire is far away from the river and its heat will never reach the river. It just gave me hope" But king was adamant he didn't listened to the brahmin and he walked away."poor brahmin" thought Birbal and he decided to help him.Next day Birbal invited Akbar to have breakfast at his house, Akbar agreed and he went to Birbal's house.Birbal laid few empty plates before Akbar and said "wait for a few minutes majesty. My wife is preparing food, she will come soon""okay "said Akbar and he waited for the food, but even after hours Birbal didn't brought the food, so Akbar went to the kitchen, and he saw Birbal standing outsideHe went close and noticed that There was a wisp of fire burning on the ground and a pot was dangling on a tree far away from the fire."Birbal what are you doing?" Akbar asked."i am preparing your KHICHADI majesty"he replied"what? Are you serious Birbal? How will the food get cooked if you are placing the fire far away from the pot?" he asked annoyed."your majesty, if the brahmin can get heat of the fire placed ignited in the palace then why pot wont get the heat from the fire placed just few feets away?" "oh, Birbal" Akbar shook his head smiling"I made a mistake and I will correct it right now" and he promptly called the poor brahmin and gave him 50kg of gold.
