Publisher Description: The 1st Battalion Mounted Rifles was organized in Eastern Kentucky during the winter of 1861-1862 and served in the Army of Eastern Kentucky and the Department of East Tennessee. The unit fought in Kentucky and Tennessee under Gen. John Morgan, then disbanded in August, 1863. Some of its members joined other Kentucky commands.
