Publisher Description: This volume is a translation into English of one of three variant texts treating early Hungarian history. As the third chronicle, following the Pict Chronicle (1358-1370) and the Buda Chronicle (1473), it was written by Johannes de Thurocz (Thuroczy Janos) who lived from c. 1435 to 1490. An educated nobleman, Thuroczy was the first layman known to have written a book in the Kingdom of Hungary. The second and third variants are based upon its predecessor. |
