The first lesson begins with asking, "What is the difference between a horse and a car?" The student learns and continues to be reminded that the horse is not a machine. The position of the rider should be about balance and harmony and not about appearing perfect for a judge. This book contains lesson programs for the first ten hours of beginner riding followed by beginner group lessons. It includes lessons for advance intermediate riders who have begun to school their own horses. There is a rather long section on the emotional states of individual students and especially on how fear can be overcome. |
