The 'Antro delle Gallerie' is an underground mining structure, likely dating to the Renaissance, hidden inside the 'Alpe Cuseglio' in Valganna, in the province of Varese. It was studied as part of an extensive mining archaeology research campaign. This monograph documents the structure of the mine, through a complete and detailed topographical survey yielding eight planimetric surveys of the site and a 3D model, and details the excavation techniques used in its orginal construction. |
