Publisher Description: Glycated Hb estimation is a diagnostic tool, used for long and short term monitoring of glycemic status. The present book represents a study which is designed to compare and correlate modified NBT method for estimation of Glycated protein (serum fructosamine and globin bound fructosamine) with HbA1c estimated on DCA+2000 Analyzer.Which is based on immunoaglutination inhibition method, it is recommended as Gold Standard by DCCT for HbA1c testing in diabetics. But estimation of HbA1c by DCA 2000 + Analyzer is very costly, not easily available in all labs due to its high equipment and reagent cost, and its specificity to glycated hemoglobin HbA1c and not to total glycatedhemoglobin; it cannot be widely and extensively used. But the modified NBT reduction method is a cost effective, feasible, and sensitive method for the estimation of total glycated hemoglobin (Globin bound fructosamine); hence it can be used widely and extensively. This book provides a new line to cost effective diagnosis and treatment analysis particularly in developing countries. The analysis should help shed some light on upcoming research related to this field. |
